During the chat, the other party revealed that the valuable package he mailed back to China was intercepted by customs and needed to pay a deposit. He could not return to China due to his mission and hoped that Ms. Ma would help pay it. Ms. Ma believed it and paid more than 82,000 yuan through the website sent by the other party. After discovering that she was cheated, she called the police for help at the Xincun Police Station of the Public Security Bureau of Dongchuan District, Kunming City. After receiving the report, the police quickly started work and successfully helped Ms. Ma recover all her losses.

After adding the friend, the other party claimed to be Xiao Ding's senior, invited Xiao Ding to invest in " cryptocurrency " together , and promised to make a profit without loss. It was not until he was " blacklisted " by the other party that he realized he was cheated and hurriedly called the police for help.

Case 3

Ms. Sun met a strange man through a social platform. During the chat, Ms. Sun found that the other party was in tune with her on many topics, so she gradually let down her guard against him.

After a while, the other party talked to Ms. Sun about investment, saying that he was making money by investing in " virtual currency " . In order to gain trust, the other party showed Ms. Sun a screenshot of his earnings and repeatedly emphasized that she could try investing first and then hand over the money to the offline " staff " if she felt the earnings were good . The first investment quickly earned a profit. After successfully withdrawing the cash, Ms. Sun handed over 170,000 yuan in cash to Li, an offline " staff " introduced by the other party . Later, she found that she had been cheated and called the police for help.

Case 4

Not long ago, Ms. Yu met a man who claimed to be an " active soldier " on a social platform . The two became increasingly familiar with each other during their conversation. Seeing that the time was right, the other party claimed that he had a way to make money and could make 50,000 yuan a day through " inside information " , and invited Ms. Yu to invest in " making big money " . The other party said that the way to invest in shares is to withdraw the money in the bank card and give it to the "salesman" who will come to withdraw the cash. The " salesman " will recharge on the platform by purchasing virtual currency.

To show his sincerity, the other party transferred more than 90,000 yuan to Ms. Yu and asked her to withdraw it from the bank and give it to the " salesman " . After Ms. Yu invested a total of 130,000 yuan, she found that she could not contact the other party. The fraudsters not only " laundered " the " black money " but also successfully carried out fraud, which can be said to be " killing two birds with one stone " !

Why do “ pig-killing scams ” succeed so often?

1. Superstitious about " acquaintances " : Fraudsters take advantage of the victim's trust in " fellow townsman ", " senior ", or " boyfriend they have never met " to lower their guard.

2. Lack of vigilance against high 'returns': believing in the investment rhetoric of " guaranteed profit without loss " and ignoring the risks involved.

3. Lack of financial security 'awareness': Lack of understanding of cryptocurrency and investment platforms, and easy to be fooled by " technical " rhetoric.

4. Easily expose personal 'information': adding strangers at will on social platforms creates opportunities for fraudsters.

Chinese police reminder

1. Anyone who claims to be a " successful person ", " investment expert ", " online soldier " or someone who wants to help you invest is a scammer. Please use official channels for investment and financial management. Legal transactions do not rely on private apps .

2. Anyone who asks you to send cash or gold, or arranges for a " currency dealer " to come to your door to exchange virtual currency for recharge is a scam.

3. If you find that the other party mentions keywords such as " global exchange ", " internal channels ", " overseas operations " , etc., please block them immediately and report them.

4. Be cautious when making friends online. Asking about your well-being is a trap. Please call the police immediately to stop the loss ~
