On March 24 , as the international community continues to pay attention to cross-border crime, an important incident occurred in a cyber fraud park in Myawaddy, Myanmar, and 53 foreigners regained their freedom. These 53 people include 30 Filipino citizens and 23 Laotian citizens, who were previously in the Myawaddy cyber fraud park and voluntarily participated in fraud-related activities.

Myawaddy, as a key node in the Southeast Asian telecom fraud network, has long attracted international attention due to rampant illegal and criminal activities such as cyber fraud and human trafficking. Among the people rescued this time, citizens of the Philippines and Laos had previously taken the initiative to enter the park and participate in telecom fraud activities targeting people from other countries. They were engaged in related fraud activities in the park.

On the same day, the Myanmar Border Guards (BGF) and military government officials handed over the 53 foreigners to the Thai authorities. After receiving the personnel, the Thai side will arrange for them to return home in accordance with relevant procedures. Thailand plays an important role in this cross-border crime crackdown. It not only intensifies border control, but also works closely with neighboring countries to cut off the supply of materials to the fraud park, greatly reducing the living space of the fraud gangs.

In the global wave of combating cross-border telecommunications network fraud crimes, China, Myanmar and Thailand have worked closely together to form a strong synergy. From the early intelligence sharing, to the mid-term joint law enforcement operations, to the later personnel repatriation and case handling, the three countries have worked together. Thailand's measures such as power outages, Internet outages and oil outages have directly impacted the operating basis of the telecom fraud park; Myanmar has stepped up the investigation and crackdown on telecom fraud parks within its borders and arrested a large number of people involved in fraud; China has provided strong support for the joint operation with advanced technical means and rich experience in handling cases throughout the process. The release and transfer of 53 foreigners this time is a reflection of the phased results achieved in the joint crackdown. In the future, relevant countries will continue to maintain a high-pressure situation to prevent the rebound of telecom fraud crimes.
